Street Takeover Ends With Cars Destroyed In South LA

At approximately 4:00 a.m. on May 31, 2026, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a reported street takeover at the intersection of Broadway and Imperial Highway in South Los Angeles.

Due to the size of the crowd, CHP requested assistance from the Los Angeles Police Department to help disperse participants and restore order.

Authorities said at least two vehicles were destroyed during the incident, including one Dodge Charger that became fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters responded to extinguish the burning vehicle while officers secured the area and investigated the circumstances surrounding the takeover.

Investigators are also working to determine whether the Dodge Charger involved was a stolen vehicle.

According to reports, a Dodge Charger Hellcat may have been reported stolen earlier in the day from the Westchester area, and authorities are investigating whether the incidents are connected.
