Street Racer Arrested After Fleeing From Troopers

DETAILS:
- A trooper observed three vehicles, a black Dodge Charger, A black Dodge Challenger and a white Dodge Challenger racing each other westbound on the I-10 near 35th Ave.
- The trooper initiated a traffic stop on the white Challenger after it appeared to internally swerve in the direction of the trooper.
- The driver of the Challenger was taken into custody during the traffic stop.
- The two other vehicles continued driving and transitioned southbound on to the South Mountain L-202.
- The sergeant located the vehicles and initiated a traffic stop on the black Charger when it began fleeing.
- Phoenix Police’s helicopter began following from above as the ground units fell back to a safe distance.
- The Charger drove on the L-202 before transitioning to the I-10 until it eventually stopped at a parking garage near the intersection of Priest Drive and Southern Ave.
- Units from DPS along with Phoenix and Tempe Police arrived at the garage moments after the driver was seen fleeing from the building on foot.
- The driver was taken into custody after running into a nearby neighborhood and entering a backyard.
