Strangers Save 2-Year-Old Running Into Traffic

Two Good Samaritans helped rescue a 2-year-old boy after he was found running across a busy street early Monday morning in South Los Angeles.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on July 21, 2026, the toddler was seen running across Crenshaw Boulevard near 52nd Street by two passing motorists.

One witness, identified as Ginger, safely picked up the child and called 911 while another Good Samaritan, Phillip, stopped traffic to protect the toddler from passing vehicles.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews arrived first and cared for the child inside an ambulance while officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene.

As first responders were caring for the boy, his mother arrived in a panic. She told officers she had briefly left to pick up the child’s grandmother before returning to the scene.

LAPD officers then reunited the tired toddler with his mother in a heartwarming moment. According to the mother, the child has figured out how to get out of the home before, and this was not the first time it had happened.

Thankfully, the child was not injured.
