DETAILS:
- The storm has started producing heavy snowfall at some of the higher-elevation landmarks along Highway 18.
- Blizzard-like conditions are developing at the chain control checkpoint before Snow Valley Resort.
- Powerful winds have arrived in the area, and the snow storm is increasing in strength, making for brutal conditions for anyone installing chains.
- Vehicles, including semi-trucks, are getting stuck on the snowy highways.
- Some semis were seen putting chains on, while another motorist was spun into a drainage.
- About a dozen vehicles are either stuck or trying to put chains on throughout the Arctic Circle area of Highway 18 as snow continues to slam the highway.
- A wintery mix of slush snow and heavy rain started just north of Running Springs; however, as we made it further up the mountain, the wintery mix turned to heavy snowfall a couple of miles before Snow Valley.
- At Snow Valley, the snow was sticking heavily and is starting to pile up along Highway 18 all the way through what is known as the Arctic Circle.
