Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Ends In Fiery Lakewood Crash

A stolen vehicle pursuit ended in a fiery crash early Wednesday morning in Lakewood, where deputies pulled the driver from the wreckage before flames spread through the vehicle.

LASD Lakewood Station deputies located a vehicle reported stolen near Artesia Boulevard and Paramount Boulevard shortly after midnight on September 30, 2026. The driver failed to yield, prompting deputies to initiate a pursuit.

The chase continued at high speeds before the vehicle crashed for unknown reasons near Candlewood Street and Premiere Avenue around 12:10 a.m.

Deputies were able to remove the driver from the vehicle shortly before Los Angeles County firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames. The driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with lights and sirens. The driver’s condition was not immediately available.
Nearby residents Alex and Taylor Rouleau said they heard a loud crash followed by an explosion as the pursuit came to an end.

The residents said a piece of the crashed vehicle flew through the security screen and wooden front door of their home on Premiere Avenue before striking and damaging a gas heater about 10 feet inside. Neither resident was injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
