Stolen Car Pursuit Ends In Fiery Crash Into Houston Business

A driver fleeing Houston police crashed a stolen vehicle into a local business Sunday night, injuring two customers before the vehicle caught fire.

On October 11, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., a Houston police officer located a vehicle in the 9700 block of Scott Street that had reportedly been stolen earlier that day.

According to an HPD sergeant at the scene, the officer ran the vehicle’s license plate and confirmed it had been reported stolen. When the officer activated emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, the driver fled.

The vehicle traveled onto a side street off Scott Street, where the driver lost control and crashed into a building described by police as a local hangout spot.

The fleeing vehicle also struck another vehicle parked outside the business before crashing into the structure and catching fire.

Houston Fire Department crews responded and extinguished the flames.

Two customers inside the business were struck by the vehicle during the crash. Both were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The suspect, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, remained inside the car until officers arrived. The driver suffered superficial lacerations and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

According to police, the driver was being arrested on felony allegations including evading arrest, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and reckless driving.

Authorities did not immediately identify the business or provide additional information about the extent of the structural damage.

The Houston Police Department is continuing its investigation.
