Spring: ATM Catches Fire During Robbery Attempt

01.16.2019 | 3:00 AM | SPRING – An ATM caught fire during a robbery attempt outside a Wells Fargo branch, Wednesday morning.

Deputies responded to reports of an ATM robbery in progress at the Wells Fargo bank in the 2200 block of FM 2920 around 3:00 AM.

Units arriving on scene found an ATM engulfed in flames and requested firefighters respond to extinguish the flames.

The suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of authorities.

It is believed that the suspects were attempting to cut open the ATM using an acetylene torch when it burst it into flames.
