Speeding Car Slams Into 2nd Vehicle Causing Freeway Havoc

DETAILS:

  1. California Highway Patrol, Riverside, and Cal Fire Riverside County, with mutual aid from the City of Riverside Fire Department, responded to a two-car traffic collision on the Rubidoux Off Ramp.
  2. According to the reporting party, a car going down the freeway at a high rate of speed slammed into the rear of another vehicle, pushing it off of the freeway offramp and down the embankment.
  3. When the units arrived, one car with major damage was on the off-ramp, and a second vehicle was on the freeway, about 100 feet away.
  4. A female occupant of the speeding car was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
  5. According to witnesses, that female tried to leave the scene on foot but was apprehended by CHP.
  6. The driver of the car that was slammed into was transported, suffering from unknown injuries.
  7. A third person was arrested by CHP for being out of control at the scene. It is unclear if that person was the driver of the speeding car, and it is unknown if they were under the influence.
  8. According to several witnesses, the car that ended up on the freeway went off the offramp and down the embankment, landing on the freeway.
