A high-speed crash involving a Corvette, a semi-truck, and a pickup truck left one person dead early Thursday morning on State Route 60 in Riverside.
At approximately 4:50 a.m. on July 30, 2026, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a three-vehicle collision on eastbound State Route 60, just east of Market Street.
According to CHP, a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling at a high rate of speed in the No. 2 lane when it collided with the rear of a 2019 Freightliner tractor. The impact pushed the semi into the center median.
The Corvette then veered to the right and struck a 2018 Toyota Tacoma that was entering eastbound SR-60 from the Market Street on-ramp. The collision caused the Tacoma to overturn onto the roadway, while the Corvette continued down the right shoulder embankment.
The driver of the Corvette suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Riverside Fire personnel.
The drivers of the Freightliner and the Toyota Tacoma were not reported to have sustained fatal injuries.
Officer L. Hooper of the California Highway Patrol’s Accident Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision is encouraged to contact the CHP Riverside Area Office at (951) 324-7210.
The investigation remains ongoing.
