Sparks Fly During High Speed DUI Pursuit

LOCATION: start in San Marcos / Ends in Escondido near 444 N Fig St
AREA/CITY: Escondido
DETAILS:

  1. Around 10:57 pm, a deputy patrolling San Marcos observed a vehicle driving erratically.
  2. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, which took off, prompting a pursuit.
  3. The driver headed eastbound and ended in Escondido, heading towards Valley Center up the grade, but turned around.
  4. Escondido police assisted and set up spikes in the nearby area, and a successful spike of both tires was found on the driver’s side.
  5. The driver began to circle an area and eventually stopped at the above address.
  6. a K9 made contact with the suspect, attempting to flee on foot, and he was then arrested.
  7. it is believed the driver is under the influence and has several past DUIs
