South Whittier: Suspects Arrested After Fleeing From Crash Stolen Vehicle

01.06.2020 | 3:13 PM | SOUTH WHITTIER – Two men who fled from a stolen vehicle after a crash were taken into custody after an extended search effort, Monday evening.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Victoria Avenue around 3:13 PM.

As units arrived on scene two individuals from one of the involved vehicles fled on foot.

Officers quickly established a perimeter around the area prompting the lockdown of several schools as they searched for the outstanding suspect.

During their search efforts units were advised that records check indicated the vehicle that the suspects fled from was reported stolen.

After an hours long search a police K9 helped locate at least one suspect in the backyard of a residence in the 10700 block of Cornishcrest Road.

The suspect in the backyard was apprehended without incident.

No additional details were immediately available.
