South Whittier: Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle

06.12.2020 | 10:15 PM | SOUTH WHITTIER – A man was struck and killed after walking into lanes, Friday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Imperial Highway near Duffield Avenue around 10:15 PM.

Units arriving on scene located an adult male down in the roadway suffering from major trauma after being struck by a vehicle.

Firefighter paramedics attempted to revive the victim but later pronounced him deceased on scene.

The driver that struck the pedestrian appeared to have remained on scene.

Initial reports indicate the pedestrian stumbled out into the roadway before being struck.

Both directions of Imperial Highway were closed between Meyer Road and Marquardt Avenue while authorities investigated.
