South Los Angeles: Wild Pursuit Ends With Suspect Being Tased
05.22.2020 | 12:00 PM | LOS ANGELES – A man who led officers on a dangerous high-speed pursuit was taken into custody after being tased at the end of a pursuit, Friday afternoon.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Division attempted to stop a pickup truck that had been reported stolen in the South Los Angeles area around 12:00 PM.
The male driver of the vehicle fled with a female passenger also inside the car, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit.
At one point the driver entered a nearby freeway before spinning out, crashing into a pole, and then continuing wrong-way before crashing into another motorist and continuing on.
At another point the suspect rammed a civilian vehicle to appeared to be trying to stop the suspect from fleeing.
The pursuit came to an end after the pickup truck lost at least one tire and was successfully hit by a spike strip.
Both occupants attempted to flee from the vehicle on foot but were quickly apprehended.
Officers tased the driver who was later transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
It was unclear if any civilian injuries were reported.
