South Gate: Suspicious Fires Damage Two Vehicles

10.24.2019 | 1:49 AM | SOUTH GATE – Two pickup trucks were damaged after a series of suspicious fire, early Thursday morning.

Authorities responded to multiple reports within a quarter-mile radius of suspicious fires between the 11900 and 12000 blocks of Garfield Avenue around 1:49 AM.

Crews arriving on scene extinguished the fire which burned through a mattress and miscellaneous trash. One of the fires was located near several parked vehicles and caused damage to at least two pickup trucks.

Officers saturated the area and searched for any suspects but did not immediately locate anyone.

The cause of the fires is considered suspicious and may be the work of an arsonist.

An investigation is ongoing.
