South Gate: Suspect Ditches Rifle During Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

05.21.2020 | 11:00 PM | SOUTH GATE – A suspect who tossed a rifle from from a stolen vehicle as he led officers in a pursuit was taken into custody, late Friday night.

Officers attempted to stop a dark-colored Nissan sedan occupied by a male driver and female passenger that had been reported stolen around 11:00 PM.

The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to officers prompting a high-speed pursuit that continued along numerous freeways.

At one point the driver of the vehicle tossed out a rifle which was later recovered by officers.

The chase ended at the intersection of Florence and Century when the stolen vehicle became disabled.

Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody without further incident.
