South Gate: Chain-Reaction Crash With Fire Injures Five People

10.13.2019 | 2:26 AM | SOUTH GATE – Five people were injured, including one critically, after a chain-reaction crash caused two vehicles to burst into flames, early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on the southbound I-710 just south of Firestone Boulevard around 2:26 AM.

Units arriving on scene located multiple vehicles involved in a traffic collision with two engulfed in flames.

Firefighter quickly extinguished the flames from both vehicles while paramedics treated and transported a total of five patients.

At least one patient was described as suffering from critical injuries.

The cause of the investigation is underway but initial reports indicate a chain-reaction crash.
