Snow Pounds Mountain Communities, Dozens of Vehicles Stuck | San Bernardino Mountains

02.16.2022 | 1:30 AM | SAN BERNARDINO MOUNTAINS – The drive down North Bay Rd in Lake Arrowhead can be seen as snow dumps burying roads and cars. Snow plows were working hard to clear the streets. Many cars were abandoned in parking lots as the snow overcame many cars ability to transport people where the needed to go. The second part of the video shows some footage from the lower elevation town of Crestline. A driver had TC’d off the road and hit a tree, was uninjured and was being towed out by a good Samaritan. Other footage shows the drive up highway 18 from Crestline, hwy 18 was ordered closed earlier in the evening due to dozens of vehicles stuck in snow. Highway 18 was reopened but there were multiple vehicles that were left abandoned on the side of the highway. The last part of the video from Highway 173 from Rim Forest to Cedar Glen shows a school bus that had slid off the road and became stuck. The school bus was carrying students home from school when it became stuck. The school district had to call the childrens’ parents and have the kids picked up from the buses stranded location. A Stater Brothers Truck and many other cars could be seen stuck and most were abandoned. The Rim Of the World School District officially declared a snow day due to the treacherous road conditions, meaning all students, faculty members and bus drivers of the Rim District were able to remain home from school.
