Smoke and Flames Rip Through South LA Apartment Building

At approximately 1:45am on March 3rd, 2026, Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to a reported structure fire near 43rd Street east of Broadway in South Los Angeles.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire showing from a two-story fourplex. Multiple residents were evacuated from the building as crews worked to contain the blaze.

One victim was transported to a hospital from the scene. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

The building sustained major damage as a result of the fire. The cause remained under investigation.
