Two people escaped without injury after a small aircraft went down near Lake Mathews Wednesday morning.
At approximately 11:23 a.m. on August 5, 2026, CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department crews responded to multiple reports of an aircraft emergency in the 15100 block of Lake Mathews Drive in unincorporated Riverside County near Perris.
The first arriving unit located a small aircraft down with both occupants already safely outside. Neither occupant reported any injuries.
Firefighters also discovered the aircraft was leaking fuel and additional resources were requested to assist. Crews were able to mitigate the small fuel leak and secure the scene.
No additional information has been released regarding what caused the aircraft to go down or the circumstances leading up to the emergency.
CAL FIRE officials said additional details regarding the aircraft and incident will need to come from the Federal Aviation Administration.
