Slow Speed Pursuit Ends In Walmart Parking Lot

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on April 15, 2026, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in Carlsbad, but the driver failed to yield, leading to a pursuit.

The pursuit continued at slow speeds through Oceanside and into Vista before looping back into Oceanside. Officers deployed spike strips during the chase in an effort to stop the vehicle.

The pursuit ultimately ended in a Walmart parking lot, where the driver continued circling before spike strips were deployed a second time. Officers then moved in, removed the driver from the vehicle, and took them into custody without further incident.

Authorities later located drugs inside the vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
