Simi Valley: Resident Trapped After Teen Crashes Into Home While Fleeing Police
02.01.2020 | 2:53 AM | SIMI VALLEY – A resident was trapped after a teenage suspect crashed into her home while fleeing from police, early Saturday morning.
Officers responding to reports of a suspicious person located a black Honda Accord driving without its headlights activated and attempted to stop the vehicle around 2:45 AM.
The driver failed to yield to officers and took off at speeds that reached at least 80 MPH before crashing into a home in the 3500 block of La Mesa Avenue at around 2:53 AM.
The 16-year-old male driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.
Two residents were inside the home at the time of the crash and one was trapped due to the wreckage.
Firefighters responded and freed the woman who was shaken but not seriously injured.
Building officials yellow-tagged the building and the two residents, a mother and daughter, were displaced as a result.
