Simi Valley: Nitric Acid Fire Prompts Evacuations
06.25.2019 | 6:16 AM | SIMI VALLEY – A fire involving nitric acid storage tanks prompted the a swath of evacuations, early Tuesday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a chemical fire in the 100 block of West Cochran Street around 6:16 AM.
Crews arriving on scene found a nitric acid storage tank engulfed in flames causing a plume of toxic smoke.
Evacuations in residential and commercial areas were facilitated while firefighters worked to safely control the fire.
The circumstances surrounding the fire were not immediately available.
