Simi Valley: Man Arrested After Making False Bomb Threat At Gym

12.10.2018 | 7:00 PM | SIMI VALLEY – A man was under arrest after making a false bomb threat that prompted the evacuation of a local gym, Monday night.

Police responded to the reported bomb threat at the Crunch Fitness Gym located in the 2600 block of Erringer Road around 7:00 PM.

Officers arriving on scene evacuated the gym after learning that a man had told the gym’s manager via telephone that he planted a bomb inside a trash can. The call reportedly came after the manager had asked a disruptive patron to leave the business.

Bomb squad teams searched the gym but did not locate any explosive device.

During their search of the building the suspect who had been asked to leave returned to the scene and was identified by witnesses.

Police quickly took the 19-year-old, identified as Michael Maxson, into custody and determined he had placed the threatening phone call.
