Simi Valley: DUI Crash Involving Classic Car Traps Passenger
11.13.2018 | 12:38 AM | SIMI VALLEY – A person had to be extricated from a classic car following a crash with tree, early Tuesday morning.
Officials responded shortly after 12:30 AM to the intersection of Alamo Street and Wanda Avenue regarding reports of a vehicle that struck a tree.
Crews arriving on scene discovered a white 1967 Chevy Bel Air that had apparently lost control before striking a tree. The driver was able to free himself from the wreckage however a passenger was trapped.
Firefighters used the jaws of life and other power tools to free the trapped passenger before transporting him to an area hospital in serious condition.
The driver, who was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The car, which was considered a classic, was not equipped with seat-belts.
