Simi Valley: Driver Flees Critically Injured Passenger After Being Struck By Train

09.03.2019 | 8:30 PM | SIMI VALLEY – Police were searching for a driver who fled their vehicle and critically injured passenger after being struck by a train, Tuesday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision involving a train in the 1400 block of Elm Court around 8:45 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a Amtrak surfliner train headed eastbound that had struck a vehicle at the Katherine Road railroad crossing.

A female passenger was located inside the involved vehicle suffering from serious injuries.

Firefighter paramedics transported the female victim to an area hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot according to witnesses and was not immediately located.

No injuries were reported aboard the Amtrak train but all rail traffic was stopped for at least an hour as a result of the crash.
