Simi Valley: Double Stabbing Leaves One Dead At Homeless Camp
07.21.20220 | 4:18 PM | SIMI VALLEY – One person was under arrest after a double stabbing at a homeless encampment left one person dead, Tuesday evening.
Authorities responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon near the railroad tracks just north of the 2100 block of First Street around 4:18 PM.
Units arriving on scene located a 30-year-old female who had contacted a security guard after being stabbed.
The woman told officers that her 26-year-old boyfriend was also injured after being stabbed near a homeless camp along the railroad tracks.
Officers located the male victim with multiple stab wounds and pronounced him deceased on scene.
A large perimeter was established and the suspect, 40-year-old Julio Martinez-Diaz of Los Angeles, was found hiding in bushes.
Martinez-Diaz was placed under arrest on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He was transported to an area hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the stabbing.
The female victim was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.
No additional suspects are believed to be outstanding.
