Simi Valley: Brief Pursuit Ends With High-Speed Crash
02.17.2020 | 11:11 PM | SIMI VALLEY – A suspect was injured after a high-speed crash culminated a brief pursuit, late Monday night.
A member of the Simi Valley Police Department attempted to stop a silver Lexus sedan for a red light violation at the intersection of Sycamore Road and Los Angeles Avenue around 11:05 PM.
The driver of the Lexus failed to yield and took off from officers at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.
Within minutes the suspect lost control and crashed into a curb, parked vehicles, and a utility pole near the intersection of Fitzgerald and Erringer roads.
The driver and solo occupant of the vehicle sustained major injuries in the crash and was briefly knocked unconscious.
Firefighter paramedics treated the suspect on scene before transporting him to an area trauma center. He was described as being a 40-year-old male.
Power to the surrounding area was temporarily lost as a result of the high-speed pursuit crash which remains under investigation.
Alcohol is being investigated as a potential factor in the crash.
