Shooting Investigation Forces School Lockdown | National City

11.01.2021 | 3:00 PM | NATIONAL CITY – National City Police responded to a shooting on the corner of East 16th St. and Harbison Ave. Upon arrival, police did not find a victim nor suspect. Police did find evidence of a shooting that took place. A neighbor in the area reported seeing a male running through their backyard with a handgun in his hands. National City Police searched backyards but did not find the suspect. Unconfirmed scanner traffic stated that the possible victim of the shooting left the area shortly after. Police are looking into nearby hospitals to see if any person has shown up with gunshot wounds. Nearby Paradise Hills Elementary school was put on a temporary lockdown as the search continued for a suspect. School was already out for the day but there was still school staff present.
