Sherman Oaks: Homes Damaged After Mudslide, Sinkhole Emerge After Heavy Rain
03.22.2020 | 10:06 PM | LOS ANGELES – Several homes were damaged after heavy rains led caused a mudslide and sinkhole, Sunday night.
Authorities responded to reports of a mudslide that damaged several homes in the 15500 block of Hamner Drive in the Sherman Oaks area around 10:06 PM.
Crews arriving on scene located a hillside that had collapsed causing a large mudslide that flooded a vacant home and damaged two others.
Firefighters evacuated the neighboring home and learned that the mudslide had also damaged a pool causing a sinkhole to emerge.
Heavy rains complicated efforts to mitigate the risks from the mudslide and firefighters requested a response from city building officials to assist in managing the incident.
