Sheriff’s Prisoner Bus Catches Fire, Causing Smoke Inhalation Injuries in Newhall Pass

12.16.2020 | 3:35 PM | NEWHALL PASS – Fifteen prisoners were assessed for smoke inhalation injuries after a LA County Sheriff’s Inmates Bus caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

LA City and LA County Fire Departments responded to reports of a bus fire on the north 5 at Calgrove Blvd.

It was reported that a LASD prisoner transport bus was on fire with prisoners on board.

Firefighters arrived on scene and located the bus with an engine fire out on arrival.

LASD requested additional buses for transportation of the prisoners, and deputies later transferred the prisoners on the side of the freeway to a bus that wasn’t on fire.
