Sheriff’s Deputy Crashes Head On With Wrong Way Driver

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 200am 2-25-24
LOCATION:  Westbound i10 @ Crosby Lynchburg Offramp
AREA/CITY:  Highlands, TX
DETAILS:

  1. HCSO began receiving reports of a wrong-way driver on the East Freeway
  2. Reports of a driver traveling Eastbound in the Westbound lanes West of the bridge
  3. Deputies immediately took up the call and ended up going head-on with the wrong-way driver a short time later
  4. Both deputies and the driver miraculously walked away with nothing more than bumps and bruises
  5. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, a male in his 20s, was taken into custody on suspicion of DWI
  6. HCSO VCD is working on the crash and will reopen the roadway soon
  7. While the fog was visible at the crash scene, it appears that impairment is the sole factor responsible
