Semi Truck Roll Over, Running Springs, CA

LOCATION: Highway 330 MM 36.30 Approx. 1 mile up bound from  Forest RD. 1n09

DETAILS:

  1. Highway 330 has been completely shut down from highland to running springs due to a large semi truck roll over and a massive tractor on its side.
  2. At around 2:45 first responders were dispatched to reports of a semi truck roll over on highway 330 with the truck possibly catch fire.
  3. USFS engine 338 was first on scene, and reported that there was no fire however the breaks and engine were smoking heavily.
  4. When medic engine 91 arrived on scene they reported that the driver of the semi had refused medical treatment and was uninjured.
  5. The driver stated that he was driving down bound on 330 when the trucks air breaks began to fail sending him speeding down hill and out of control.
  6. Driver said he tried to pull the truck into one of the massive turnouts a quarter mile up hill but was unable to slow the semi down and had to make the pivotal decision to either crash it into the embankment or off the the cliff completely to avoid hitting any other vehicles.
  7. The driver crashed the truck into a massive embankment, flipping the truck over and tossing the large tractor off the the flat bed.
  8. Miraculously, no injuries were reported.
  9. CHP has issued a SIG alert for highway 330 and a hard closure of the entire highway from highland ave in highland all the way to live oak drive in running springs.
