Semi Truck Catches Fire After Crash, Driver Taken Into Custody

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2-1-24 | 2:11 a.m.
LOCATION: West 60 & Soto
AREA/CITY: Los Angeles
DETAILS:

1. LAFD responded to a crash
2. Upon arrival firefighters found a semi truck fully involved with fire
3. The driver was able to escape the flames and walk onto an overpass above
4. Crews had a difficult time extinguishing the flames due to a lack of water
5. Eventually crews extinguished the blaze
6. The driver who was not injured, was evaluated for DUI
7. The driver has been detained by CHP at this time
8. It appears the driver crashed into something on the passenger side, the front tire has been ripped off
9. The North 5 transition to the west 10 & west 60 transition to west 10 are closed for 2 hours
