Semi Overturns After Losing Brakes | Lakeside
10.07.2022 | 8:37 AM | LAKESIDE – The male driver of a large box truck along with his co-worker was going south on the downhill side of Wildcat Canyon Rd. when his brakes gave out on the fully loaded truck carrying cabinets. He tried to slow it down by going into the right shoulder hillside. The truck traveled up the hillside and hit several boulders and flipped. The truck came back down on the roadway on its side. The driver was able to get out, but his co-worker was trapped. The driver along with some Good Samaritans was able to lift the cab just enough to get the passenger’s foot unpinned from the door, leaving his shoe behind. Both of the workers had cuts and bruises but did not want transport to a hospital. Diesel fuel is leaking from the truck. HazMat Crews have been notified. Traffic is blocked in both directions from Willow Rd to Muth Valley Rd. This is the main road to the Barona Casino, and there is a long line of people and cars waiting to get through. The road has already been closed for 90 minutes at the time of this writing and the CHP told us that it will be many hours before the roadway opens. The truck has to be unloaded, flipped over, and the diesel fuel cleaned up, then all of the cabinets have to be reloaded on another truck.
