Semi Loses Trailer Full Of Hay In Moreno Valley

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2-7-25, 10:19 a.m.
LOCATION: Sr60 W / Heacock St
AREA/CITY: Moreno Valley
DETAILS:

MORENO VALLEY – A tractor-trailer hauling bales of hay overturned Friday on the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, spilling its cargo and blocking all but one lane.

The crash was reported at 10:20 a.m. Friday along the westbound 60, near Heacock Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said that the big rig was traveling at an unconfirmed speed when it jack-knifed in the slow lane, dumping loads of alfalfa across two lanes.

The trucker emerged uninjured, the CHP reported.

No other vehicles were involved.

Officers were forced to shut down two of three lanes, leaving only the HOV available for motorists to squeeze into, prompting a SigAlert before 11 a.m. because of the ensuing miles-long traffic jam.

The trucking company was reportedly sending another rig to retrieve the hay and haul it onto its destination, but there was no immediate word how long the cleanup and transfer might take.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
