Semi Driver Falls Asleep & Destroys Multiple Cars On Car Hauler

INCIDENT DATE/TIME:12-25-23, 5:48 a.m.
LOCATION: I10 W Eo / Sr62
AREA/CITY: NORTH PALM SPRINGS

DETAILS:

1. CHP Indio and Cal Fire Riverside County responded to a reported commercial truck collision.
2. When units arrived they found two semi trucks with major damage.
3. According to CHP the driver of the white semi fell asleep driving westbound on the 10 freeway, slammed into a car Hauler and destroyed multiple cars and his truck.
4. He was transported with minor injuries,  the Hauler driver was shaken but not injured.
5. A SIG ALERT was issued at 7:12 a.m. for the #2, #3 AND #4 LANES CLOSED FOR APPROX 2 HOURS AT THIS TIME but as of 9:30 both trucks and debris are in place and haven’t been cleared.
