SDPD Officer & Suspect Fly Off Cliff During Pursuit

LOCATION: EB Hwy 94 & Kelton Rd

DETAILS:
- An SDPD officer attempted to stop a car that was speeding.
- As they passed the I-805 on eastbound Hwy 94, the male suspect driver turned off his headlights, and speeds reached approx. 100 mph.
- The suspect then took the Kelton Rd exit, and as he reached the T-intersection, he did not brake and flew off the cliff and down into a canyon.
- The pursuing officer also went off of the cliff and into the canyon but, luckily, was attempting to brake.
- The suspect car rolled several times before stopping and landing on its roof, approx. 2-300 feet off of the street.
- The officers’ vehicle stayed on its wheels, landing below the roadway.
- Officers went to the injured and pulled them out of the wreckage.
- There were two males in the suspect vehicle, and both had major injuries (broken bones)
- The injured officer had a complaint of pain to his neck and back.
- The Kelton Rd offramp and intersection are closed for the investigation.
