Santa Paula: Dog Survives Being Ejected During Rollover Crash

02.13.2020 | 11:38 PM | SANTA PAULA – A small dog was alive after being ejected from a rollover crash, late Thursday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a rollover crash on eastbound SR-126 at the Peck Road off ramp around 11:38 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a black SUV on its side with a small dog approximately 50 feet away.

Two occupants from the vehicle were able to free themselves from the wreckage and were treated by firefighter paramedics before being transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

The small dog appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle during the rollover crash and was shaken up but not seriously injured.

It appears the canine was not tethered in the vehicle as required by state law.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation and the dog was impounded until its owners could retrieve it.
