Santa Monica: Protests Ends With Looting, Arrests

05.31.2020 | 6:00 PM | SANTA MONICA – Protests lead to violence, looting, and ultimately arrests, Sunday night.

Protests that began as peaceful demonstrations to demand justice for George Floyd turned violent turned violent throughout Santa Monica around 6:00 PM.

Violence that erupted during the demonstrations prompted a citywide curfew as vandals and looters caused damage.

Numerous arrests were made and several fires were set but it was unclear how many injuries were reported.

The majority of unrest fizzled out overnight but police remained in the area and many businesses closed in anticipation of further violence.
