Santa Monica: Man Surrenders After Pursuit Involving Large Truck

05.19.2020 | 1:30 AM | SANTA MONICA – A man who led officers on a pursuit in a large truck surrendered after an hours-long pursuit, early Tuesday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a large work truck believed to have been stolen from a construction site in the Los Angeles area.

The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and entered the I-405 Freeway prompting a pursuit that continued up and down Pacific Coast Highway for hours.

At one point the suspect rear-ended a vehicle in the city of Malibu but the civilian was not injured.

Eventually a successful spike strip deployment forced the man to stop on the eastbound I-10 Freeway near Cloverfield Boulevard.

A standoff ensued before the suspect eventually exited the truck and was taken unto custody without incident.
