Santa Clarita: Suspected DUI Trapped After Crashing Down Embankment

10.23.2019 | 1:15 AM | SANTA CLARITA – A suspected DUI driver was trapped in his car after crashing down a freeway embankment, early Wednesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a traffic collision with a person trapped on the northbound I-5 Freeway near Valencia Boulevard around 1:15 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a single vehicle approximately 50 feet down an embankment with substantial damage.

The driver was trapped and required extrication by firefighter paramedics.

He was later transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

Authorities suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash and will be investigating.
