Santa Clarita: Four Dead After Fiery Crash
11.01.2018 | 7:30 PM | SANTA CLARITA – Four people were killed when the minivan they were traveling in rear ended a stopped big rig and burst into flames.
Officials responded around 7:30 PM to the northbound I-5 freeway south of Calgrove Boulevard to reports of a vehicle that collided with a big rig stopped along the right shoulder. Additional callers advised the vehicles involved were catching fire.
Units arriving on scene discovered both vehicles engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.
All four occupants of the minivan, including a child, were pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the big rig was not injured.
Initial reports indicate the minivan was traveling at high speeds before veering into the stopped big rig and bursting into flames.
The California Highway Patrol’s Newhall office along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department are handling the incident.
