Santa Ana: Pursuit Crash Into Truck Critically Injures Suspect

01.16.2020 | 1:00 AM | SANTA ANA – A suspect was hospitalized in critical condition after crashing into a bobtail truck while fleeing from police, early Thursday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a suspect driving a stolen pickup truck near the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Fairview Street around 1:00 AM.

The driver of the truck refused to stop for officers and fled down McFadden Avenue before crossing into opposing lanes of traffic and crashing into a bobtail truck.

Firefighter paramedics worked for nearly 15 minutes to free the suspect, a 26-year-old male, who became trapped in the wreckage. He was transported to UCI Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the bobtail truck was uninjured.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the violent pursuit crash.
