Santa Ana: Cemetery Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

06.25.2020 | 6:34 PM | SANTA ANA – One person was dead and another injured after a shooting broke out during a gathering at a local cemetery, Wednesday evening.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at the Santa Ana-Fairhaven Cemetery located in the 1900 block of East Santa Clara Avenue around 6:34 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a male victim down within the cemetery suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced him deceased.

A second gunshot victim was found in a vehicle that was attempting to flee the cemetery.

Firefighter paramedics treated the second victim on scene before transporting him to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Initial reports indicate a large group of adults and children were gathered at the cemetery to celebrate the anniversary of a loved one’s death.

While gathered together two male suspects approached the group and opened fire with a handgun.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear but the shooting was believed to be gang-related.
