Santa Ana: Assault On 7-Eleven Employee Prompts Standoff With Police

08.28.2019 | 11:09 PM | SANTA ANA – A man armed with a pipe assaulted a 7-Eleven employee prompted a police standoff, late Wednesday night.

Authorities responded to reports of an assault on a clerk at the 7-Eleven located in the 700 block of North Main Street around 11:09 PM.

Units arriving on scene located employees outside of the store who reported that a man had entered with a pipe.

The suspect reportedly struck an employee and then ran to the rear of the business prompting a standoff with officers arriving on scene.

After over an hour police made announcements stating they would release a K9 officer into the building.

Shortly after the broadcast was made the suspect surrendered without incident.

An investigation is ongoing.
