San Jose: Police Chase Ends With Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

12.25.2018 | 2:25 AM | SAN JOSE – A police chase ended with an officer-involved shooting that left one dead and another injured, Tuesday morning.

The chase began after police attempted to stop a vehicle similar to one used in a shooting that left one person hospitalized near the intersection of Story Road and Clemence Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle fled from officers, leading them on a pursuit that spanned nearly five miles before crashing into a fence near the intersection of Leigh and Fruitdale avenues, near the Sherman Oaks Elementary School around 2:25 AM.

Officers exited their vehicles and took cover while giving orders to the female driver. Instead of complying, the driver attempted to flee and rammed a patrol vehicle.

At that point an officer-involved shooting occurred and the female suspect was fatally struck.

Police cordoned off the area pending a complete investigation.
