San Jose: Overturned Propane Tanker Prompts Freeway Closures
12.21.2018 | 6:30 PM | SAN JOSE – An overturned propane tanker promoted the closure of several area freeways, Friday night.
Authorities responded to reports of an overturned tanker on the northbound I-280 at the transition road to the SR-17 and I-880 around 6:30 PM.
Crews arriving on scene located a big rig hauling a tank carrying approximately 9,000 gallons of liquid propane overturned and blocking the transition road.
The driver of the big-rig was uninjured however fire officials continued to respond in force due to the potential for a spill.
For hours crews worked to upright the tanker truck, prompting the closure of all lanes of the I-280, I-880, and SR-17.
By 3:15 AM lanes were reopened and cleared.
Officials were continuing to investigate the cause of the rollover.
