San Diego: University Employee Trapped Under Car After Falling Out Of Service Cart

12.11.2018 | 11:25 AM | SAN DIEGO – A university employee was trapped under a car after falling out of a service cart and being ran over, Tuesday morning.

Officials responded to reports of a woman trapped under a car on North Point Drive at the University of California, San Diego around 11:25 AM.

Crews arriving on scene located a female who was trapped under a SUV and began efforts to extricate the woman.

Firefighters lifted the vehicle to free the trapped woman before transported her to Scripps La Jolla Hospital in serious condition.

Initial reports indicate two university employees, including the victim, were speeding in a small service cart.

The door the cart was believed to have come open for an unknown reason at which point the female passenger fell out of the vehicle and was struck by the SUV.

University police along with CalOSHA were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
