The mix of United States Marines and military police were deployed to assist border authorities in anticipation of a number of large migrant caravans working their way north from Central America.
The migrant caravans are expected to arrive at the U.S. – Mexico border to seek asylum and admission into the U.S. in coming weeks.
Troops could be seen deploying barbed-wire fences and other defensive infrastructure near the San Ysidro Port of Entry.
