San Diego: Possible Sabotage Leads To Crash Involving Robby Gordon Racing Team

09.17.2019 | 11:15 AM | SAN DIEGO – Authorities investigating a crash involving the Robby Gordon Racing Team and reports of sabotage, Tuesday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a crash involving a truck hauling a trailer with an off-road vehicle on the southbound I-805 Freeway just south of the I-905 Freeway around 11:15 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a trailer hauling a Robby Gordon Racing Team vehicle to Ensenada, Mexico that had come loose and struck a center divider.

Debris in lanes caused from the initial crash resulted in at least one vehicle getting a flat tire but thankfully no injuries were reported.

The owner of the race team reported that they had just left a restaurant where they saw transients hanging around their vehicles and were on their way to race in the SCORE Baja 400.

Members of the racing team suspect one of the transients pulled a pin from the trailer hitch prompting the crash.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
